Chani and 9 in their natural habitats

Chani:  Why yes, I am Queen of all I survey.  Pay homage to me now with lots of pets and cuddles, but do not dare to presume to take me off of my tower!

9:  Why do you keep tapping this white and silver thing?  I'm white and silver.  You should be petting me and giving me all the attention here.  And aren't I so cute looking at you from this vantage point???

Pic of 9 and Chani

As promised, pics of the kittens!

9 loves to sleep on his back.  I love being able to pet his belly when he does this.  I take this as a sign that he's comfortable with me and just loooooves me.

Yes, he even fell asleep while cradled in my arm.  Makes it difficult to type mind you, or get any work done.  However, this did make me extremely happy.
And I couldn't post pics of only 9.  Chani had to be in at least one of the shots.  Here they are in that lovely flame blanket... sigh... I wish that they didn't like the blanket quite so much.

Haven't really noticed if the kittens missed me much while I was gone. They were both very happy to see me and took turn sitting on me last night. Or sitting on the flaming blanket.  9 even went to sit on Chris after sitting on me. Not sure if he's being traitorous or just generous with his love. At any rate, both came into the bedroom with me when it was time for me to go to sleep. So, at least, they slept with me. Oh, and apparently, they did not sleep with Chris while I was gone.  They just slept...

New York fun

View from our hotel window (we stayed at the W in Times Square.  It's more for hip, young people who like to party...  The rooms are kind of dark even with all the lights on.  That being said though, it's a great hotel.  Loved it, even though I was sharing a room with my parents and sleeping on a roll away bed AND missing 9 and Chani horribly!)

It's a big cat!  Couldn't resist taking a photo of it ;)

At Sakura Park where we rehearsed for the wedding.

The view from Smack Mellon Studios where the wedding and reception were held.  Totally gorgeous day!
Siena and Chilli asked to see a picture of me in that lovely bridesmaid dress. I really need to learn to stand up straight! At any rate, I wasn't a fan of the color, but on the whole, with the whole wedding party dressed up in this color, it looked pretty good. I just don't think it looks good individually.  In the photo, from left to right are:  Me, Dad, Tina (the bride) and Mom.

I had a great time in New York and really didn't want it to end. Pity I had to come back to work :(... But, at least I'm back with my dear kittens!

Sorry folks, no pictures of 9 and Chani in this post.  Give me a few to take some new snaps of them and I'll do my best to post pics of them later today.

Thursday Tidings

Cleaning Chani again.  Doesn't she look soooo happy??? hehe

So, after a few days of incredible heat in the Bay Area, it's now chilly again.  Sigh... silly weather. Won't be posting for the next few days because I'll be heading out of town for a dear friend's wedding. I get to be a bridesmaid (again... sigh) and wear a dress of a rather 'interesting' color. It's all good.  It's all about the bride after all, right?

Chris is going to take care of 9 and Chani.  I hope they don't transfer their loyalty (love?) to him :( Chris assures me that he will 'ignore' them, but I know he's lying.  He can't ignore these two, especially Chani. Well, we'll see how it goes when I come back.

Tuesday 'Tude

Chani, posing and showing me that she is the Queen of all she surveys..

Quick little funny story about 9.  Q in his later life had this tendency to use the toilet as a starting point to leap up onto bathroom counters.  So, I quickly got used to closing the toilet seat.  Trained Chris to do the same when we became roommates (and reminding company to do the same... well, they have to be trained too).  At any rate, after Q passed, I still closed the toilet seat cover.

Now, 9 is just starting to use the toilet as a launch pad.  (Can anyone else see where this is going?).  This morning, after I stood up (sorry for the detail!) but before I could close the lid, 9 hopped up onto the toilet and sprawled himself around the edges, catching himself before he fell in.  I quickly scooped him up in my arms and closed the lid.  Of course, I was giggling the entire time too.  And as I was scooping him up, I kept thinking, "Darn it!  I wish I could have captured that on film!"

Sunny Sunday

It's just the perspective of the shot that makes Chani look bigger than 9 here.  He's still my big boy and she's still my little miss.

Contemplative 9

I love 9.  He's the sweetest kitty and just loves everyone.  Major purr monkey.  That being said, I have to say, he's not all that bright.  Big and brawny, yes.  Smart... well, there's a reason why his nickname is Brawndo (from the movie, Idiocracy).  He hasn't figured out how to open a door that is slightly ajar.  He kind of nudges it, bats at it and then mews for me to open it, which can be difficult from where I'm usually sitting... yes, I'm taking about the bathroom door. (yes, it has occurred to me that he is technically 'training' me when I open the door for him... but really, not too bright!)

Other times, he bangs his head against the wall in his attempts to get at Chani.  Oh, and when playing with the now de-feathered Evil Feather Toy, he often gets whacked on the head with the plastic stick... doesn't phase him at all.  I worry about him sometimes...

He's funny little joy.

And he's just adorable when he sleeps too!

Tuesday Twosome

9 and Chani curled up on the orange blanket. 9 tends to sleep on top of Chani. Not sure how Chani deals with it considering how much bigger 9 is than she.

All Chani post

Chani is my morning love bug.  She loves to snuggle around my shoulder or under my chin or in the crook of my neck. Thankfully, she's still pretty small and can curl up in a tight enough ball to fit there.  Since the weather here has turned grey, rainy and cold again, it's nice to have such a warm little purr monkey right next to me in the mornings.

On her favorite blanket, showing off pink toesies and covering her face.  So incredibly cute!

Sleepy time

Another shot of 9 in the black chair.  He's still pretty small (inaccurately weighed in at about 6 lbs) but he's growing a lot.  It's amazing how they suddenly have a growth spurt and you can really notice the size difference.  I kind of wish I saw what 9 and Chani looked like when they were tiny (8 weeks old or so), but that won't happen.  I don't think the rescue place has pictures of them at that age.  At any rate, I'm enjoying them immensely.

When I started looking to adopt kittens, I really wanted tiny babies.  I wanted to recreate what I had with Q (I'll have to post some of the pictures of him at that age... one day, I shall).  But, in the weeks that followed me adopting 9 and Chani, I was so glad that they were bigger (especially 9) because I could pick them up and give them hugs with my whole arms.  I could cradle them kind of like I did with Q.  And honestly, I love hugging kitties.

Strange how you get exactly what you need sometimes...

This is a heated bed that I bought for Q, but he never used. When I first brought Chani home, she was a little confused and deposited a 'present' in it for me to find later...  Now, though, she uses it as it is meant to be used.  9 hasn't used it at all.  So, it's Chani's property.  In looking at the picture, it seems like Chani's body is stretching out, as if her body is finally catching up to the size of her head.

Sunshine Kittens

Before Q passed, I got a window perch for Chris' window.  I think I mentioned before that his room gets a lot of afternoon sun.  At any rate, the perch never really 'stuck' (i.e. it kept falling off the window ledge, sometimes with Q on it), and as much as Q enjoyed being placed there, he didn't often go into Chris' room. He was usually asleep in my room under his blanket.  So, the window perch was tossed aside.

9 and Chani are a different story.  The whole apartment is their playground. Chani found the window perch and decided to plop herself down on it.  So, this past weekend, Chris reattached the window perch with extra sticky pads in the hopes that it wouldn't fall this time. So far, so good.  It's still attached.

Plus, it was quite warm this weekend, so Chris opened his window.  Needless to say, the kittens were quite absorbed with the outside scents and sounds.

9:  What's that over there?
Chani:  I don't know, but it sure is fascinating!

Computer Montoring

9 and Chani love to watch my computer monitor.  In the above picture, Chani was fascinated by my World of Warcraft character running about Dalaran.  She decided that the moving images were just as cool as the laser pointer and she just had to try to catch any of them.  Now, if my monitor was one of those old heavy style monitors, I wouldn't worry too much, but since it isn't...  This could have disaster written all over it.  Thankfully, Chani is still pretty light weight, so I don't have to worry too much... yet.

9, on the other hand, is not as light weight.  And he just loooooves the pointer, or the words appearing on my IM window. He will bat at the screen. Or just flop himself down in the middle of my desk and snooze. Then, he stretches and leans up against the monitor... doesn't really help as he manages to obscure a small, but very important portion of my screen.

Ah, kitties, what would I do without you???
