Mom is sad...

We had a bit of an accident last night. Somehow, while Mom was in the shower, someone, and I'm not saying who, managed to knock off a shelf. Pictures flew, frames were broken, glass shattered and Mom's first and probably favorite finished sculpture was a casualty.

Surprisingly, the shelf only knocked over some of the pieces on the shelf directly under it and the jade phoenix that Grandpa and Grandma bought for her in China is still intact.

To Mom's credit, she did not get angry. She quickly shooed us away, picked up whatever glass she could see and vaccuumed up around the area. She was more worried about us cutting ourselves on the shards than she was upset about the sculpture.

Of course, now that she's had time to dwell on it, she's sad...

Here's what the Tree Woman looked like before she was trimmed. Yes, Mom can still joke about it. She says she wasn't too attached to it, but we know better.

Now, she's a little worried that she did not manage to get all the glass. And she's trying to figure out how one of us got up to the shelf because we never managed to do that before (might have been a speaker she put up by the TV that made it easy to jump up there, but we're not saying. She moved the speaker last night hoping we don't try going up there again...)

Anyhow, Mom and her two friends, Emma and Michelle, will be going to a spa this weekend and Grandpa and Grandma will be visiting us. See you when she gets back!

Oh, as to who is responsible... Well, Mom has an idea, but no evidence. She still hugged the suspect before she left for work though.

purrsss.

At long last!!! The Dwindling Box Jungle and our new digs

Finally, I get to post! We had to give Mom a tremendous amount of gentle reminders that you all out in blog land want to see us and how we are adjusting to our new home. This past weekend, Mom had a pottery sale, a wedding to attend AND a surprise birthday party. Talk about not giving us our proper due attention. However, we forgave her.

Here I am in my cat cup that is on a computer desk positioned perfectly under our bedroom window. I'm a gorgeous kitty I know. Unfortunately, Mom has moved the desk back into the dining room/office for this black and white keyed thingy she hasn't played on in a couple of years and there was a strange stain on the cat cup pad. She took it apart to wash and hasn't done that yet. Goodness, she is so crazy busy.

Here are more pictures of Grandma's living room. All of those pieces are now in our condo (except some pottery) and Grandma has a nice clear living room again. She's happy though she misses us. Grandpa misses us too, but he comes in to visit us as often as he can. It's nice that he has a key to the condo. We miss them too. 9 always goes up to visit with Grandma and Grandpa when they visit. I play a little hard to get. But, Grandpa always makes sure to pick me up and pet me.
So, how about some photos of us in our new condo!

Here is 9 checking out some stairs that lead down into the sunken living room.

Here is our specially built eating area. It's pretty nice! Mom has since lined it and will paint it eventually. But, for right now, it's just peachy (yes, a bad pun, I know!)

Here I am checking out some tools that Phil left. Boy, he made a lot of noise when he visited. We always hid when he was here but came out to explore as soon as he was gone!

9 hid in the kitty condo when Phil was here. He wanted to use his laser eyes, but didn't come out at all. When he did come out, he ran immediately to our bedroom... And speaking of bedrooms, here it is!!!
Mom has her lovely purple bedroom and bed set. It's sooo nice sleeping with her in a big Queen sized bed! So much room to push Mom around on while she sleeps.

Mom promises to post more now that we're getting settled. After all, she has to show you the office, the living room and the guest bedroom...

Sigh...

No pictures yet. The external hard drive died again, so Mom will have to replace it AND this time, transfer data and not use it again!

This does mean that she will have to reinstall her favorite MMORPG World of Warcraft as soon as she finds the discs. Sigh...

But, we have forgiven her the stress she put us through. We've been sleeping with her quite comfortably in our typical spots. 9 stays between her feet at the foot of the bed while I snuggle next to her under her arm. It's quite warm and comfy there.

She will post pictures one day!

Traumatized!

Well, not so much really.

Mom moved Chani and me to the condo place on Saturday. We spent most of the time hiding under the headboard of her bed. After a few hours, we explored some of the tools that Phil (Little Man's dad) left behind, but didn't really relax. And I did wake up Mom the next morning.

The next day was full of loud noises and more hiding by us. And there was this strange little intruder who kept making these little bleating noises and Mom kept cooing over. Mom brought Chani over to meet Little Man, but Chani just ignored him. Note from Marlene: Yes, that was Little Man. Phil brought him over because he's so young and needed to be taken care of while Phil finished installing my stove and dishwasher. Little Man busied himself with walking around, chewing on plastic and shelf liners... He's so cute!

AND THEN, to top off all the other stresses, another introoder came over and spent the night with us! I made sure to check her out and hiss at her a few times, but she ignored me. That kitty introoder hid where Chani and I hid at night. So, we stayed out of the room. I slept on the couch and Chani slept on her tower. Can you believe that that kitty had the audacity to growl at me the next morning? Note from Marlene 2: the second kitty is Chiyo who belongs to my good friends Emma and Aki. They asked me to watch Chiyo for the night for certain reasons. So, I couldn't say "no". There were no altercations between the cats, but there were a few hisses and growls.

Well, fortunately, that kitty left Monday night. Now, we're slowly taking over the house and making it ours. It's pretty good here. Chani and I are having fun doing some THoE and digging through boxes Mom has half unpacked. Although we didn't sleep with Mom last night, we did keep her company in the morning. And earlier, we had a great time snuggling with her on the couch.

Mom did take some photos of us and will post them later. Right now, she has to put together a pantry.

Sleepy Time & Toesday

Last night, I went to bed to read a book instead of getting on my computer (hooray for me!) 9 and Chani joined me. At the foot of the bed, here lies 9... Looks comfortable, doesn't he?

Up by my side, was darling Chani doing her best pike/curly Q formation.

The weather is getting warmer so I don't think the Aqua Blankie of Doom will last much longer on the bed.

Oh dear, I hear 9 getting in trouble. I better go check on it... Oh, he jumped on Grandma's yarn bag and pulled everything out... sigh... poor guy just doesn't get it.

On the condo side of things, I have pictures but haven't uploaded them yet. The walls are painted, the upper cabinets are installed and now, my parents have decided I'd better get new carpets too. This is turning into the remodel that never ends... Not that I'm complaining though, it's just taking a looooong time :D

Condo developments

The kitchen is being slowly demolished...

Debris from the kitchen.
Hehe... I can't tell you how satisfying it is to take a hammer to counter tops in order to remove them.

More about the Condo

9: Mom begged and pleaded with me to allow her to hijack the blog again for this condo thing. Chani and I are not sure what it is yet, but it seems to be taking Mom, Grandma and Grandpa's attention away from us... I can be gracious enough to let Mom do this, but she couldn't even be bothered to take a picture of me with the regular flashy box thing. She used her camera phone. All I know is that she better make it up to us soon!
-----
Hi All. Here are some pictures of the pre-painted/pre-remodeled condo. And yes, I am making things up to 9 and Chani with extra cuddles and hugs :)

Marlene

The guest bedroom and the only paint where I put it on the wall and said: that's the right color! The orange, not the green...

The paint test in the guest bathroom continues. I am going to go with the light turquoise blue right below the whitish color.

The kitchen before it gets new appliances and new cabinets and basically rearranged.

Another view. The angled wall on the left is a pantry that is kind of inconvenient and oddly shaped. I hope to change that out. Plus, the sink and the stove are opposing each other. Talk about bad Feng Shui! That will get rearranged too, I hope.

Finally, my bedroom. The yellow on the wall is pretty hideous but not as hideous as the above picture makes it seem. I'm going to be putting a nice purple on the walls. I love purple! I was going to go dark, but decided to go with a lighter more grey purple.

That is the remnant of the wallpaper that was originally there. It's applied in a rip and apply method that makes it hard to take off. Just as an fyi, the wallpaper was fully covering the walls before I got in there. This picture was taken about 3 days after Mom and I started ripping the paper off. It's taking a while because it covered two full walls.

And there you go!

I promise not to hijack this blog for my condo more than once a week. So, I'll be sure to post more 9 and Chani pics soon :)

Condo update

Hello All,

I am hijacking 9 and Chani's blog for the express purpose to say thank you all for the congratulations and good tidings on my condo. It's been a long road to get here and I can almost see the end!

That being said, there's a bit of remodeling to do and a lot of wall paper stripping and painting. So much work! Plus, my mom really disliked my kitchen appliances and joined me in my dislike of the kitchen cabinets, so it's going to get remodeled. Sigh... This means about one or two more months before I can completely move in. And, I definitely don't want to take 9 and Chani there while construction and painting and remodeling go on.

Thankfully, I have my dear parents who are spending some of their well-deserved retirement in helping their only daughter get the place of her dreams. While I am at work, they shall be wallpaper stripping and calling in people to help me get my place into top shape before I move in. And my mom will put up with my stuff in her living room for just a bit longer.

On the plus side for my parents, they get about one to two more months with their grandcats.

I will post pictures of the condo in its current condition on through the remodeling and finishing. I promise not to hijack 9 and Chani's blog for this all week. It is after all a kitty blog and not a condo remodeling blog.

So, I apologize for the long pictureless post and for going on about my life instead of my kitties. But, they understand and I hope you do too.

Thanks!
Marlene

Strange things are apaw... afoot hehe

Mom, Grandma and Grandpa spent a lot of time away from home today and all three came back with strange smells. Mom came home with her fingers covered in flecks of strange yet pretty colors.

And all three seemed very very physically tired.

We're not sure what is going on...
