Today, Mom took 9 and me to visit Dr. S. She tried to trick us by putting out the carriers two days ahead of time. Can you imagine?
Ugh. At any rate, we both checked out just fine. 9 was super wiggly when he got his temperature taken. I was a good girl and sat very still. We were good about getting our rabies shot. AND I was good when I got me right ear cleaned. Also, Dr. S found a little notch on my tongue. Apparently, I had some sort of wound there, but neither Mom nor Dr. S had ever noticed it before. Mom feels a bit guilty that she didn't notice it when it happened. But, Dr. S said that it has healed just fine and not to worry.
Now, you know how Mom calls me "Princess Chunky Pants"? Not a nice name, but well, Mom thinks it is appropriate. At any rate, I will have everyone know that despite the fact I feel super solid and chunky, I weigh the same amount as 9. AND Dr. S said that 9 has a bit of fat around HIS belly. So, HA! I'm just perfect the way I am.
After our visit, Mom gave us all treats. Mom then bought some boxes to hold her printed cards at next week's sale. We all checked out the boxes, but 9 sat in one the longest. Long enough to get his photo taken.
I've forgiven Mom. I even sat on her lap and cuddled with her.
So, Mom is very glad that we are healthy and we are happy to be home. I even got brushed. Uh-oh, now we need to get our claws clipped. Hmm... maybe tomorrow.

Sheamus visits Dr. Saito
Today, I had to go visit Dr. Saito. Mom wanted to get me checked out and to get my rabies vaccination. I was a good, calm boy in the carrier.
I really didn't want to come out. But Mom made me.
Dr. Saito was nice and calm as she poked and prodded me. She weighed me at 8.4 lbs. I also was very calm (i.e. not wiggly) when I got my temperature taken. After my exam, Dr. Saito pronounced me to be in good health. Then, she gave me a shot. I didn't not squeak or squirm or anything. Mom made sure to cuddle me and give me lots of praise during the exam.
Now, I am back at home with my family. It's turned cold here, so all of us kitties decided we had to be near Mom. As you can see, my siblings took over her lap. They haven't done that in a long time. Mom said she needs more lap for them.

Shenanigans!!!
Yesterday was our 2nd Gotcha Day and we did not get any Tuna! How wrong is that? And then, we were unceremoniously shoved into our cages and taken to the V-E-T! Chani protested on the way over (honestly, Mom thinks that Chani is flashing back to before she was adopted and worried that Mom is going to abandon her. NO! Mom would never abandon Chani nor me!)
Anyways, we were let out of the cages in the examination room. Neither of us came out of our own volition, so Mom had to drag us out. A vet tech took our weights and temperatures (never fun!). Chani is still 10 lbs. I, however, gained a few ounces... I went up from 10.6 lbs to 11. Hehe... But I don't look fat! The tech left to let our doctor know that we were ready and we sort of explored.
Chani checked out the door that led to the back rooms where she would later get her ear cleaned.
We both went behind my carrier. I eventually moved around, but Chani did her best to find a hidey hole.
She was pretty well camoflauged there, but boy did her face and this picture tug at Mom's heartstrings.
Eventually, Dr. S came in and checked us out. I was fine.
Chani was a bit more squirmy. But, she got a clean bill of health too.On the way home, Chani made sure to let Mom know how disgruntled she was about the VET visit, but she calmed down. And boy, were we happy to be home again.
And finally, we got TUNA!!! It was delicious. So happy belated Gotcha Day celebration day to us. And concatulations to us for having a great VET visit!

Oh Noes! 9 and Chani visit the V E T
9 and Chani visited the V E T for the first time. Getting them into the carrier wasn't hard, but 9 can be quite the escape artist when he puts his mind to it. However, it only took 2 tries to get them into the carrier. They were quite good on the long drive to the vet. I took them to see Dr. Saito who was Q's vet. Although, the drive is about 40 minutes long, I know and trust Dr. Saito and wouldn't dream of taking them to anyone else.
As soon as I let them out, they immediately began to investigate. It was slightly bittersweet to be in this room again as it was the same room where Q was helped across the Rainbow Bridge. Still, it was good to see 9 and Chani being so active, engaged and not freaking out.
9 was pretty good as Dr. Saito examined him. He took the thermometer pretty well considering how uncomfortable he must have been. Oh, and in my infinite ability to NOT pay attention to details, it seems that 9 is a month older than Chani. Silly me, I always suspected that he was older, but never looked at his adoption paperwork that actually said he was a month older. Sigh... So, he's an October kitten and 7 months old now.
9 on the table. He wasn't too squirmy. Hehe, but he did purr a lot when Dr. Saito was trying to listen to his heart and lungs. Dr. Saito did say that he has a long body and since kittens are very active at this age, his weight of 6.4 lbs is just fine. (I worry about their weight a tiny bit since Q grew up to be a hefty 16lb cat who had to be on a diet for the latter half of his life).
Chani was also a good girl when she was examined. She weighed in at 5.4 lbs. Such a delicate little girl. Dr. Saito said that her proportions are good and that she seems to be growing very well. Chani didn't take the thermometer very well. She squirmed so much that I had to hold her when she was getting her temperature taken. Took less time than 9, thank goodness. Chani is now 6 months old, a November kitten.Jeez, both kittens are probably Scorpios. According to my horoscope charts, as a Leo, I'm supposed to get along well with Scorpios. And Q was a Scorpio too. I find this kind of amusing.
Both 9 and Chani received Rabies shots. A vet tech came in and held 9 as he got his shot. He didn't mind at all. Chani, on the other hand, was not so oblivious. I held her mid section. The vet tech distracted her and Dr. Saito administered the shot. Chani meowed and swatted at the vet tech as she got her shot, almost as if to say, "How dare you!" She calmed down right after the shot. Such a prissy little lady! Surely, she is the Queen.
