Ah Maui, how I love thee!

This is the view from our hotel. At sunset, every night, there is a torch lighting and diving ceremony from the rocks. It may not look very high, but it is. Not being a fan of heights, I could never jump from that height unless it was really, really important.

Yesterday was spent visiting relatives and friends. Some of our friends had woofies like the one above.

this very friendly pit bull and...

Napoleon, the French bull dog. It's amazing how strong this little guy is. Apparently, he can pull the pit bull all over the yard when playing tug of war. I saw him run... talk about powerfully built! Pretty sweet dog too :D

Finally, a flower from my Uncle's garden. The gradation from white to hot pink just thrills me here.

Will be visiting my Aunt tonight, so I hope to get some photos of Patchy the dog and Mika the cat tonight!

Gecko greetings from Maui

Ah Maui, so happy to be here. I miss 9 and Chani, of course... but it's really nice to be here and visit family and friends.

Tonight, while eating at the Black Rock Steak and Seafood grill at the Sheraton Lahaina, my family and I were lucky to see two geckos. The first was rather young. You could tell that he had never lost his tail and just his proportions made him look young.

The guy in the picture above has been around. His new tail didn't have the scales fully formed. He did have a rather impressive chest that he blew out quite a lot. I think he was trying to intimidate the young gecko.

We visited my Aunt and she has a long hair cat named Mika, who looks like a combination of a Persian and a Siamese. Beautiful blue eyes. Aunty also has a dog named Patchy too. I didn't have my camera out, so no pictures. Maybe on Wednesday, I'll be able to get some.

At any rate, time to turn in. Although it's only 7:30 here in Maui, it's 10:30 back home! And I've been up since 5:30 this morning. Really should start training myself to go to bed earlier.

Wait... What???

Today, Mom dressed Chani and me up in hats that she bought last year in Hawaii. As you can see, I'm not the best model. And Mom had help to pose me.

Even Chani wasn't that good a model this time.

But, the worse was yet to come! She loaded us into our carriers and took us to the Kitty Hotel! What's going on??? We had no notice at all.

What do you mean she's heading off to Hawaii for the next 10 days? WAAAAAAH!

Oh well, I guess we shall have to have a good time with Tammy who owns the Kitty Hotel. I plan to give her a lot of head butts so I can make Mom jealous.

See you when Mom gets back!

purrs,
9

Chani sends her purrs to you as well... but not to Mom!

More sleeping places

Under my headboard, there's a nice nightlight/lamp for reading. It's quite warm and thus, Chani loves sleeping under it.

On a different note, the past two mornings, 9 has been rather rambunctious at 5:30 a.m. when my alarm goes off. I usually hit the snooze button and get a few more ZzzZzs. So, of course, I must gently chide 9 that he does not determine when I actually get out of bed. The strange part is that I'm yelling "Q, stop!" instead of "9! Stop!" It takes me a few seconds to realize that I'm shouting the wrong name (note, I am not shouting per se, more like hissing loudly, but not too loudly). Perhaps Q is inspiring 9 to be so naughty in the morning. I don't know. But, it makes me giggle a bit and get a little nostalgic for the days when Q would purr in my face to wake me up and feed him.

Mind you, 5:30 a.m. is still too early to be coherent!

I guess this week's theme is...

Sleepy time? Togetherness? Both?

Sleeping shots

Sleeping head to head. If you look closely, you can see that Chani is actually sleeping on 9's foot/leg. Those are his black paw pads sticking out of her side. (Chani has cute little pink jelly bean toes).

And side by side. This is the only way that I get to sit on the couch, when they sleep side by side on half of the couch. Wouldn't have it any other way.
