Sheamus Popoki checks out

On Saturday, Sheamus Popoki visited the VET and I was rather bad at taking photos. On the plus side, Sheamus was a very good boy even though I had to hold the carrier vertically to get him out of it. He tried to find a hiding spot, but alas, there was none to be found. I picked him up and that sort of comforted him.

Sheamus now weighs 11.2 lbs or so. I thought he'd be much heavier as he feels much bigger and he is so much longer than 9. Still, he has gained 3 lbs since last year (he's filled out) and made nary a sound when he got his shots. And he didn't even react when he got his temperature taken. My poor boy.

Honestly, I think he (and Chani) has flashbacks whenever I put them into their carriers. I'm sure that they are convinced that I am taking them to an adoption fair which stressed them out a lot when they were younger, no doubt. However, I made sure to reassure him and give him treats when he came home.

The stress in my life is far too much for this kitty. I must rest. And hmmm... why is this Adobe box sitting here? Mom, are you being remiss in installing the new CS6 creative suite? Seriously, first you do not post enough on our blog. Second, you do not take enough photos of us with the good flashy box thing, only your phone and third, you do not install software that you bought last year. Bad Mommy!

Tuesday Tidings

Greetings friends. This past Saturday was a bit stressful for me. I wasn't feeling too well Friday night. I didn't eat my dinner and I didn't sleep with Mom, Chani and Sheamus. The next morning, Mom found me in the guest room just sort of hanging out on the couch. She called me for breakfast and I slowly walked to my food. When she poured my food, I looked at the dish, looked at her and then walked away. She, of course, got worried and decided to take me to the VET. Sigh...

I was a good boy on the trip there. I just made sure to mew quietly and give Mom my most pathetic looks and rub against her fingers that she stuck in the cage.

Well, long story short, I'm in good health. Dr. Saito found me to be a bit sensitive in my hip areas, but everything else seemed fine. So, I got an anti-inflammatory shot and was sent home with strict orders not to jump too much at all. I'm obeying those orders for the most part. I'm also still giving Mom my sad and pathetic look too hehe... OH! AND after my visit to the VET, I went to Grandpa and Grandma's house and got tuna! ALL TO MYSELF! Talk about lucking out! Well, I deserved it because I had to go get checked up and I was a very good boy though I sure did wiggle when Dr. Saito tried taking my temperature.

One more thing, I am eating well again. So, Mom isn't as worried as she was this weekend. Yay!

V-E-T

Today, Mom took Chani and me to nice Dr. Saito to get our vaccinations. Chani sang the whole way to the office while I was a good, quiet boy. At the office, Mom had to pull us out of the carriers. I explored, Chani tried to stay in the carrier.

Before Dr. Saito came in, Mom weighed us. I was 10.8 lbs! Yes, I'm a big boy, but not as big as Q who came before... He was 16 lbs at his heaviest according to Mom. Chani weighed in at 9.8 lbs.

Dr. Saito came in and knelt down to get one of us to come over to her. I won! I was a brave boy today. At any rate, I got examined and was given a clean bill of health and got two shots. I didn't complain once! Though, I was a bit wiggly when I got my temperature taken. Good thing Mom held me hehe... Dr. Saito admired my black paw pads.

Now, Chani was a good girl too. But something odd happened. When Dr. Saito weighed her, the scale said 10.2 lbs! How is it possible for my little sisfur to gain 4/10 of a pound in the course of a few minutes. Mom was very confused. I think Chani has magic powers.

Chani got examined and received her shots. However, one of her ears was very waxy. So, she had to go into the back. Mom and I waited a bit and then a vet tech came in carrying Chani. She put Chani into her carrier (I had already climbed back into mine. I was totally ready to go home!) Dr. Saito came in a few minutes later and said Chani was a good girl, but after she got her ear cleaned, she hid her head in the vet tech's jacket. This made Mom go all gooey at the thought of this cuteness and just how sad Chani was.

At any rate, we are both very healthy and doing very well. Mom says that tomorrow is a special occasion and we might get a special treat. She also promises to post pictures tomorrow as she didn't take any of us today... How wrong is that?

purrs to all!

Oh Noes! 9 and Chani visit the V E T

9 and Chani visited the V E T for the first time.  Getting them into the carrier wasn't hard, but 9 can be quite the escape artist when he puts his mind to it.  However, it only took 2 tries to get them into the carrier. They were quite good on the long drive to the vet.  I took them to see Dr. Saito who was Q's vet.  Although, the drive is about 40 minutes long, I know and trust Dr. Saito and wouldn't dream of taking them to anyone else.

As soon as I let them out, they immediately began to investigate. It was slightly bittersweet to be in this room again as it was the same room where Q was helped across the Rainbow Bridge. Still, it was good to see 9 and Chani being so active, engaged and not freaking out.

9 was pretty good as Dr. Saito examined him. He took the thermometer pretty well considering how uncomfortable he must have been. Oh, and in my infinite ability to NOT pay attention to details, it seems that 9 is a month older than Chani. Silly me, I always suspected that he was older, but never looked at his adoption paperwork that actually said he was a month older. Sigh...  So, he's an October kitten and 7 months old now.

9 on the table.  He wasn't too squirmy.  Hehe, but he did purr a lot when Dr. Saito was trying to listen to his heart and lungs. Dr. Saito did say that he has a long body and since kittens are very active at this age, his weight of 6.4 lbs is just fine.  (I worry about their weight a tiny bit since Q grew up to be a hefty 16lb cat who had to be on a diet for the latter half of his life).

Chani was also a good girl when she was examined. She weighed in at 5.4 lbs. Such a delicate little girl. Dr. Saito said that her proportions are good and that she seems to be growing very well. Chani didn't take the thermometer very well. She squirmed so much that I had to hold her when she was getting her temperature taken. Took less time than 9, thank goodness. Chani is now 6 months old, a November kitten.

Jeez, both kittens are probably Scorpios.  According to my horoscope charts, as a Leo, I'm supposed to get along well with Scorpios.  And Q was a Scorpio too.  I find this kind of amusing.

Both 9 and Chani received Rabies shots. A vet tech came in and held 9 as he got his shot. He didn't mind at all. Chani, on the other hand, was not so oblivious. I held her mid section. The vet tech distracted her and Dr. Saito administered the shot. Chani meowed and swatted at the vet tech as she got her shot, almost as if to say, "How dare you!" She calmed down right after the shot. Such a prissy little lady!  Surely, she is the Queen.

After their exams, the two of them continued to investigate the area as I chatted with Dr. Saito, reminiscing about Q and describing the joys of having these two loves in my life.

It was a good visit.
