Ah Maui, how I love thee!

This is the view from our hotel. At sunset, every night, there is a torch lighting and diving ceremony from the rocks. It may not look very high, but it is. Not being a fan of heights, I could never jump from that height unless it was really, really important.

Yesterday was spent visiting relatives and friends. Some of our friends had woofies like the one above.

this very friendly pit bull and...

Napoleon, the French bull dog. It's amazing how strong this little guy is. Apparently, he can pull the pit bull all over the yard when playing tug of war. I saw him run... talk about powerfully built! Pretty sweet dog too :D

Finally, a flower from my Uncle's garden. The gradation from white to hot pink just thrills me here.

Will be visiting my Aunt tonight, so I hope to get some photos of Patchy the dog and Mika the cat tonight!

Gecko greetings from Maui

Ah Maui, so happy to be here. I miss 9 and Chani, of course... but it's really nice to be here and visit family and friends.

Tonight, while eating at the Black Rock Steak and Seafood grill at the Sheraton Lahaina, my family and I were lucky to see two geckos. The first was rather young. You could tell that he had never lost his tail and just his proportions made him look young.

The guy in the picture above has been around. His new tail didn't have the scales fully formed. He did have a rather impressive chest that he blew out quite a lot. I think he was trying to intimidate the young gecko.

We visited my Aunt and she has a long hair cat named Mika, who looks like a combination of a Persian and a Siamese. Beautiful blue eyes. Aunty also has a dog named Patchy too. I didn't have my camera out, so no pictures. Maybe on Wednesday, I'll be able to get some.

At any rate, time to turn in. Although it's only 7:30 here in Maui, it's 10:30 back home! And I've been up since 5:30 this morning. Really should start training myself to go to bed earlier.

Wait... What???

Today, Mom dressed Chani and me up in hats that she bought last year in Hawaii. As you can see, I'm not the best model. And Mom had help to pose me.

Even Chani wasn't that good a model this time.

But, the worse was yet to come! She loaded us into our carriers and took us to the Kitty Hotel! What's going on??? We had no notice at all.

What do you mean she's heading off to Hawaii for the next 10 days? WAAAAAAH!

Oh well, I guess we shall have to have a good time with Tammy who owns the Kitty Hotel. I plan to give her a lot of head butts so I can make Mom jealous.

See you when Mom gets back!

purrs,
9

Chani sends her purrs to you as well... but not to Mom!

More sleeping places

Under my headboard, there's a nice nightlight/lamp for reading. It's quite warm and thus, Chani loves sleeping under it.

On a different note, the past two mornings, 9 has been rather rambunctious at 5:30 a.m. when my alarm goes off. I usually hit the snooze button and get a few more ZzzZzs. So, of course, I must gently chide 9 that he does not determine when I actually get out of bed. The strange part is that I'm yelling "Q, stop!" instead of "9! Stop!" It takes me a few seconds to realize that I'm shouting the wrong name (note, I am not shouting per se, more like hissing loudly, but not too loudly). Perhaps Q is inspiring 9 to be so naughty in the morning. I don't know. But, it makes me giggle a bit and get a little nostalgic for the days when Q would purr in my face to wake me up and feed him.

Mind you, 5:30 a.m. is still too early to be coherent!

I guess this week's theme is...

Sleepy time? Togetherness? Both?

Sleeping shots

Sleeping head to head. If you look closely, you can see that Chani is actually sleeping on 9's foot/leg. Those are his black paw pads sticking out of her side. (Chani has cute little pink jelly bean toes).

And side by side. This is the only way that I get to sit on the couch, when they sleep side by side on half of the couch. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Portrait time!

Chani looks lovely in pink.

9 practices his Zen-meditation...

re: Pink Blankie of Doom... I have a weird sense of humor. Back in the day, at our old place, we had a roommate who had a horrendous orange flaming blanket that the kitties used. This combined with a great appreciation of the cartoon Invader Zim in which the word "doom" was mentioned frequently resulted in all blankies being described as "Color" + Blankie + of Doom... So that blanket was called the Flaming Orange Blankie of Doom. Since we are no longer living with that roommate, I made Chani a Pink Blankie of Doom and 9 an Aqua Blankie of Doom.

Hope that answers your question!

The Return of the Pink Blankie of Doom!

It was uncharacteristcally cool yesterday in California. Mom actually pulled out the Pink Blankie of Doom and took a nap on the couch with us. Very snuggly.

Hope you all had a great weekend! We sure did :D

The Kitties and a Bean

The other night, a friend and her son came over. The young human looooved playing with us. Now, the strange thing is, 9 actually got pooped out by this little bean. Which means, I got to play. I actually got a human to myself for once. It was very odd, but I really enjoyed it.

Don't I look totally engaged. Look at my outspread paw. So fun!

Little Man is bigger and Mom gets a kitten fix

Hello Everyone! Do you remember Little Man, the pygmy goat? Well, Mom got to visit him today. Boy, has he gotten bigger.

He's still quite the lap goat and Mom sure enjoyed picking him up and giving him cuddles.

Now, I have to confess, Mom sometimes is 'unfaithful' to 9 and myself. We know how much she loves us, but sometimes, she just needs a kitten fix. At Little Man's house, there are 4 kittens who are about 9 weeks old now. Above you see Sweetie. She's the bravest of the siblings and the only one Mom got to cuddle and photograph. The other three kittens, Midnight, Tiger and Oreo, were zonked out under some blackberry bushes. They all received their shots today and were a little groggy. But, not little Sweetie. She put up with Mom picking her up, cooing at her and using the flashy box on her.

Now, Mom is back with us and giving us love. Sigh... she's sooo unfaithful hehe

Passing on the award

Well, first I need to pass on this award. I know I'm supposed to pass it on to 5 people, but really, I only have a few in mind. I wanted to give it to the Poupounette but they received it from someone else...

So, here are the people I want to give this award to:
1) Ginger Jasper
2) Harry Spotter
3) The Adventures of Space Paws
4) Kittitas

And here is Oscar, my friend's brother's wiener dog. He's sooo cute! He's very bonded to his Daddy and so usually, there are bean legs in photos of Oscar. But, this time, no bean legs!

Chani's eyes

Chani has great eyeliner.

Great lashes too...

Angel and Kirby gave us this award! Here are the answers to the questions...

1. What would your perfect day consist of?
A day where Mom would feed us treats and our wet food every time she went into the kitchen.

2. How would you describe yourself if you were an item of clothing?
Chani would be a delicate piece of lace. 9 would be a very sturdy t-shirt.

3. What hobbies are you currently working on?
Mom is working on painting and printing photos to decorate our new condo.

4. Walking in the woods in wellies or bare foot on the beach?
Barefoot on the beach for Mom. She spent her childhood summers in Hawaii, after all.

5. Have you ever hugged or sang to a tree?
No. What is a tree? Something that is outside? We're indoor kitties after all.

6. Growing your own veggies or nipping to the supermarket?
Mom wishes she could grow her own, but she's not very good with plants. That's why she has kitties like us who remind her to feed us and make sure our water bowl is filled.

7. Have you found anyone exciting in your family tree?
No, but 9 thinks he is descended from royalty despite his thuglike behavior toward Chani. Chani is a princess. As for Mom, nope.

8. Slap up meal in a posh restaurant or fish ‘n’ chips from the wrapper?
Ooh, we'd like fish 'n' chips. Well, the fish and the wrapper at least. Mom would take both the posh and the wrapper.

9. Which element do you most resonate with, Earth, Air, Fire or Water?
Being a potter, Mom definitely resonates with Fire (all potters are pyromaniacs). As for us, Chani is like Air, delicate and agile. 9 is like Earth, sturdy and strong.

Now to give this to 5 friends... oh dear... Mom says that she will have to send this award to our friends tomorrow as she really must get back to work. We'll make sure she does this!

Sleeping places

As you have seen, Chani and I have basically taken over the couch. I tend to vary my sleeping places, but Chani... she's a dedicated couch potato. Above is her "please, gently pet my belly or kiss my chin" position.

Other times, she just curls up and smiles. I wonder what she's dreaming about. She just won't tell me.

As for me, I like sleeping on Mom. Comfy lap here.

But! The best place so far is the cable box. I loooove sleeping there. Mom doesn't know why, but Grandpa thinks it's the heat that the box produces. I'm not telling them that it's because I look so striking there. The contrast of the black box and my shiny white fur is quite amazing after all.

And Mom just made me post that human's picture. Apparently, she has a huge "crush" on him and is constantly watching MI-5 season 7 just because he's in it. Sometimes, I think she lies on the couch just to watch this bean rather than being a comfy warm pillow for Chani and me.

Should I be jealous?

purrs and head butts,
9
