Thankful Thursday

Mom had a good time in Southern California. She got to see old fur friends and celebrate Christmas with her family.

After Christmas, though, she decided to go on an adventure to Death Valley. She had never been there and thought, why not? So off she went where there was intermittent internet and no cell phone signal.
The first morning, she woke up at 4:20 and drove out to Dante's View to see the sun rise.

Boy, did she freeze her fingers off. But, she got some lovely photos.

Badwater Salt lake.

And now, us. Grandma got us a lovely heated cat bed. It's big enough for two, but Chani decided to claim it.
Later in the evening, 9 joined Chani.

We are very thankful that Mom had a wonderful trip and got back safely to us. We are so happy to be home again and to have our lovely new cat bed!

Christmas Photos

Here are some photos from our rather unproductive Christmas photo shot. Chani's got the crazy eyes there, doesn't she?

My costume was a little big and Chani's was a little small.

Mom got into frame waving the toy about. I was posing well here, Chani was not!

Chani kept moving about. But, I was a good boy and kept looking at the toy.

Mom didn't want to use any of these because there was "too much clutter in the background". Well, whose fault was that? Mom wasn't very good about straightening up the living room, was she? hehehe

Hope you enjoyed these photos!

Merry Christmas!

Hello everyone!

We just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

Mom is going down south again and we are at the Kitty Hotel. Mom hoped to draw a Christmas card, but she now has a cold and has no energy to do this. When she gets back, we'll make sure that she is over her cold and does a proper New Year's card.

Otherwise, we shall put the bitey on her!

So, we hope you all have a safe, warm holiday and we shall see you when we get back!

purrs and nose kisses,
9 and Chani

Mom is tired...

Mom had a good sale this weekend. She said it was decent but as always, not as much as she had hope. Still, the positive side, she won't have to make as much for the next sale. Hopefully, this means she will have more time for us.

Unfortunately, with this extra time, Mom is now contemplating our Christmas photo. She dressed us up, but Chani's costume was far too tight and my costume... well, it fit, but you know how bad I am at posing. Mom called the photo shoot disappointing, though not disastrous. Hehe... She also tried a Santa hat on me... I did not like that at all.

Mom is now muttering that she needs an assistant when trying to take photos of Chani and myself in costume.

Honestly, I don't know why she doesn't just use Photoshop to dress us up!

See! Photoshop, I say!

Mom's busy again...

We are slightly perturbed. Mom has a pottery sale coming up this weekend and is either madly rushing about or too busy to give us the requisite attention we desire. Yes, we understand that it is the biggest sale of the year for her and yes, we understand that she needs to get all this done because she wants more green papers to spend on us and our home. BUT still!!!

Above you see one of the prototype pendants that Mom is now making. She did start out making kitty pendants but they are not yet finished. For some reason, she finished this puppy pendant first. She was inspired by Dash of wee furries fame.

Yes, that is strike two. She might make it up to us with treats and if she shows off the other pendants that she has made, especially the kitty pendants (providing she takes photos of them!)

disgruntledly yours,
9 and Chani

Hi All,
Marlene here. Just to let you know, I am taking down my cafepress site. I really don't have the time to maintain it unfortunately. If you would like one of the designs on a tshirt or bag, I would be glad to make them myself and send them to you.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, no worries!

Cheers!

Tuesday Tidings

Portrait of Chani peering from the ledge above the screen door and looking into the dining room.

9 sitting in my lap.

9 being silly and checking out a vase lying down on its side in my living room. Yes, I made that vase. I'll take a full length picture one day.
------

Late addition... Here's a picture of the vase that 9 is checking out. This was taken at my pottery studio. And although I'm not too happy with the shape of the vase, it's different from any other vase I've thrown. Here's my blog entry about it on my clay blog.

our new friend, Meg!

This past Sunday, Mom had a friend over for dinner. Her name is Meg and Mom met Megwhen Meg was still in middle school. Mom was her pottery teacher. Now, Meg is a beautiful young lady who even though they've known each other for many years, never makes Mom feel old.

Above you can see that Chani made herself quite comfortable on Meg's lap. This was a good thing because our condo gets a bit cold, even with a heater on! Later, Chani curled up on Meg's feet. Chani even did the stretchy front arm thing to show how comfy and relaxed she was.

9 hung out on Meg's lap too. He loved playing with the strings on her sweater. Meg had to hold 9's bottom because he was about ready to fall off at any second!

Before, 9 took a short nap on Meg's lap, but Mom didn't get any pictures of that. Oh well.

We were very happy to have met Meg!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Here we are snuggling. Or rather, 9 was cleaning me. Honestly, it seems that he thinks I can't clean myself properly. Oh well. I let him think he's doing me a favor.

But yes, we are thankful for everyone in our lives, Mom, Grandpa, Grandma, our friends who, of course, include all of you out in blogland.

We hope that you are having a wonderful November and that the holiday season treats you well.

Thank you for being our friends!!!

Tuna goodness!

TUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNAAAAAA!!!

For Chani's birthday, Mom gave us tuna. So delicious. One of Mom's friends said that it was discrimination that we only got treats for my birthday, but got tuna for Chani's.

I think it's discrimination too, but it's ok, because even though Chani ate a lot of her tuna, I finished it all up. hehehe

Nom nom nom...

It was delicious!

Happy Birthday, Chani!

Hi Everyone! I'm 2 today. It's so wonderful living with Mom and 9 (even when he's being a bit of a turd who steals my toys and cleans me whether I want it or not).

Today, we have a special plan. Grandma and Grandpa decided to have an early Thanksgiving, so we are all going to Grandma and Grandpa's house to eat turkey. Well, Mom and our friends, Emma and Aki, will eat turkey. 9 and I will eat something else. Mom says it's special and that we really like it. She also said that she will take pictures too.

So, happy birthday to me! We hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Contemplative Chani and a hiding 9

Chani still likes to look out the window. I wonder what she is contemplating.

9 likes to 'hide'. His furry behind is quite adorable and striking with the purple comforter.

Please ignore the dirty laundry. It's laundry day!

Tuesday Time Machine

More scanned pictures of Q. Above is probably the first photo of Q ever. He was such a tiny thing then!

Here I am, holding him. My what huge glasses I had back then. I think this is how I got Q to deal with me hugging him and picking him up all the time. Just couldn't help myself!

Here is Q on my mom's chair when I first brought him to my parents' house. Yes, he rolled on his side and showed off that gorgeous belly a lot!

Another shot of Q's gorgeous belly. He definitely had the belly spot action going there.

Right after I lost Q, I knew I wanted to adopt right away. At the time, I just couldn't deal with having a kitty who looked like Q. I thought it would be too painful. You've seen who I ended up with, and neither 9 nor Chani have belly spots. Strange how now, I miss those spots so much!

Oh well, I am quite happy with the pair I have (though, it's so hard to not scoop up another baby who is all black or has belly spots! But, I think Chani would have issues and I have a hard enough time giving them all the attention they require... yes, I'm trying to justify not getting a new brother or sister for 9 and Chani, but perhaps when my parents settle down and not travel so much hehehe...).

Tockstober

Happy Tockstober everyone! Above you see 9's glorious tocks. It's so amazing to see his coat and the contrast in it. When he first came to me, his coat had that brilliant white, but his back/spine area and his little heart shaped target on his side were definitely more taupe than dark brown.

And here is darling Chani. Some how my camera phone loves her a lot. I have been getting such lovely photos of her lately. Her coat is also pretty in its color and depth. Love, love, love her orangey bits. And looking back at her kitten pictures. Her coat has definitely darkened up too. Ah, what a doll she was and is!

And her white socks remind me of Q. I remember not being sure about adopting her when I first met Chani. 9 definitely got a hold on me by licking my arm as soon as I held him. Chani was a bit more standoffish (and she did have an accident in my bed the first morning after I adopted her). But, I am so happy that she is in my life. She's my cuddle bug (when it suits her) delicate Princess Diva kitty.

(By the way, Chani's colors match our local baseball team. Go SF Giants!!! hahaha... no offense to Texas Rangers fans, but we gotta support our boys in orange and black!)

Happy Halloween 2010

Greetings, fellow Kitties of blog land. It is I, Chani. Mom got a bee in her bonnet today and decided to dress me up. I was a perfect model as you can see above.

Am I not just adorable in this photo? I am feel so prim and proper in my pink ruffled dress (at least that's what Mom says I should feel). By the way, this is a different pink ruffled dress than the one Mom put me in last year. I out grew that dress.

A close up shot of me.

Hello, everyone. 9 here. I am not as good a model as Chani, but Mom got a few photos of me.

She's waving a stick with a bell at the end of it to get my attention. But, I was way too distracted by the shirt to really pose well.

Nom nom nom... I really do not like wearing clothes though Mom says I'm getting better about it.

This is the only photo Mom could get of the two of us in one shot. When we have to wear costumes, Chani and I refuse to share the frame!

Well, at least we got a lot of Greenies for this!

Happy Halloween everyone!

Guess who is 2 years old???

9: Ooh Ooh Ooh!!! I know the answer to that! Me!!!

Although, Mom's not entirely sure when my exact birthday is, she knew I was born in October sometime and decided to give me the same birthday as Q who came before (and Mom's Uncle and her dear friend).

So, happy 2nd birthday to me!!!

Do I get some extra wet food or treats today? I hope so :D

Q as a baby

A few weeks ago, a friend asked me to do a video montage for her. Unfortunately, all her photos were photos... not on disc. So, I had to buy a scanner to do this project. I had already planned on buying a scanner one day, but never got around to it.

So, I've just hooked up my new Epson scanner and decided to christen it by scanning a photo of my beloved Q. When Q came into my life (from a pet store in 1991 or 1992... terrible that I can't remember, this was before I knew about adopting and such), he was about 5 weeks old. Tiny and adorable. He got a little sick when I first brought him home, but he recovered quickly and became the first love of my life. Here he is making himself comfortable on my father's alarm clock. He was such a wee thing back then!

Many years later, I took a photo of Q when he was an adult sitting atop my alarm clock, but I've managed to lose that photo. If I ever find that photo, then I'll scan it and post it.

I have so many photos of Q and his best bud, Sylvester to scan and post! Part of me can't wait to share this with you. Part of me is getting teary eyed thinking about it (not just my eyes mind you). But it will be a good journey.

Chani is a beauty

Here's my little Chan-chan girl looking her best. Her colors are definitely Autumn
