Uh-oh... it's that time of year again

When Mom pulls out the costumes. Le Sigh. I wish the boys would "get" to wear costumes too...

Oh dear, Mom wants to take a photo of me in this dress. If some of you remember, Mom "lost" this dress and then found it again.

This year, my dress has been lying next to our bed. Mom's excuse was that she didn't want to lose the dress again. I think she was just being lazy.

And so, I suffer on. I pose prettily. And just can't wait to see if the boys get dressed up too.

(Just so everyone knows, Chani was purring the entire photoshoot. She did hop off the bed a few times and hunker down. But she stayed when I put her back on the bed and took a few snaps)

Happy Chinese New Year!

So, remember when Mom was plotting out Halloween costumes this year and sewed Chani's costume by hand?  I have to admit, Sheamus Popoki and I totally laughed when Chani had to wear hers. However, it took a lot of work to sew Chani's costume by hand and so, Sheamus and I thought we were safe when Mom did not get our costumes done in time...

And then Christmas came... And Mom received a sewing machine. After a few tries, Mom got it working... Here is the result:

I know I look sad here, but Mom says it's the way my features just form. I'm soulful. But... well, I think the picture speaks for itself.

Sigh, there was just no stopping her... So, I posed nicely and let her take photos. Chani checked me out and you know she was snickering in the background.

Sigh... the indignity...

Hi everyone, Sheamus Popoki here. This is the first time Mom has dressed me up properly. She didn't quite get the tail part right. And part of me thinks she was punishing me. She says she wasn't, but she was also giggling while taking photos. Oh, and this was the day before the angry meow day. She thinks she might have stepped on part of me when that happened but couldn't tell because of her ankle being all messed up. And she really thinks it was only fur that she stepped on. Still, I did have to tell her what for that day! Oh, thank you to everyone who asked if I was hurt from wrestling or having a tummy ache. Mom has checked me out and I'm just fine. Tuesday night, I let Mom cuddle me and on Wednesday, I did roll over again and get tummy rubs. AND I greeted Mom when she came home.

Anyhow, I settled down wearing the costume and just waited for her to take it off.

As you can see, the tail isn't quite right. I think I heard her muttering something about designing patterns better for our next costumes and how much fun it will be to sew. Sigh...
On the plus side, we did get lots of treats for this. Including Chani who didn't have to wear hers. Seems kind of unfair to us boys.

Teehee...  I, Chani, am a very happy girl. The scales are certainly balanced now.

Happy Chinese New Year's Friends. Happy Year of the Snake!!!

As promised, photos of us!

Last night, we were being particularly photogenic while Mom changed the sheets on our bed. Fortunately, her foot has healed enough that she could quickly hobble to get her phone to take these photos.

Don't I look particularly fetching and innocent here?

I, Sheamus Popoki, have no idea what the fuss is all about. Yes, I am looking good here, but... Ummm... no idea what is going on....

I'll just look cute and try to make up for my surprisingly angry meow I gave Mom the other morning. No idea why I did that. I was doing my usual thing of rolling on my back for belly rubs before she left. She gave me a belly rub and then I angrily meowed. First time I've ever done that to her. (To Grandpa on occasion, but never to Mom). At any rate, she said "Hey!", I ran off to Chani's tower. She pet me and consoled me and made sure I was ok, before she went to work.

AND then, when she came home, I didn't run out to greet her like I usually do. Honestly, I have no idea what was going on with me and neither does Mom.

Pretty purrs, everyone. I loooove it when Mom changes the sheets. I roll around and get all purry cuddly.

Here I am rolling about.  Oh... and Grandpa and Grandma gave Mom a sewing machine for Christmas, so guess who finally got their costumes sewn. Teehee. Just wait for their photos...

Chani dresses up and more

 Hello furiends,

Last year, Mom bought us costumes. I got a witch's hat and 9 got a funky orange and black collar. Mom also bought this dress that she decided was simply adorable. When it came time to take photos of us in our outfits, Mom could not find the dress at all. Now, I'm not saying who hid the dress, but it was out of sight til long after Halloween.

Flash forward to last night. The San Francisco Giants won the World Series. Yay! So, Mom decided to see if she could find a Giants' tshirt that she bought years ago for Q who came before. As she was looking for the tshirt, she found my dress. Yes, she made me wear it.

Sigh... I sulked for a little bit, but then started acting normally again. Mom says that she worries about me being cold (yes, here in California, she worries about me being cold...), so it's a good thing that I'm so good at being dressed up. The thing is, that logic sort of fails since the only part of me that seems really cold are my ears and this dress is a sun dress! Silly, that is what Mom is.

Oh, and she never found the Giants tshirt. She thinks she might have given it away shortly after we moved to our condo. Too many memories of Q who came before and she wanted to try to let go of a small part of that grief.

AND as for the boys, Mom is definitely up to sewing their costumes. Hehe... Soon they shall feel my pain! Muwahahaha!

Can you guess which boy gets which color?

Maniacally purringingly yours,
Chani

Oh the horrors!!!

Dear fureiends, Chani here. Mom finished my snake costume... It's pink and glittery... but oh my goodness...  Can you see how Sheamus Popoki is looking at me as if I've grown a second head? This is somewhat distressing.

Sigh, what is a girl-cat to do? And the boys don't have their costumes yet and Mom's not sure she has time to make them before Halloween. Very depressing to be the only one in costume.

Oh, Mom says that she must work on the head part as it doesn't quite look right. She does have some idea of how to fix it though.

She says she'll try to make the adjustments on the boys' costumes. It's a learning process.

As for me, I shall suffer in silence. As long as I get my cuddle time with her, I'm all right. Still, I can't wait to see the boys in THEIR costumes...

Marlene's plotting something...

 Dear Furiends,

We found these sketches in Mom's sketch book. We're not sure what is going on at all, but Mom bought some pink felt and sewing thread. We also heard some mutterings about costumes at Petco being too expensive...

Do you think we should be worried?

Worriedly purring yours,
9, Chani and Sheamus Popoki

Happy Halloween

There was a time last year when Mom said she would not dress us up. What she failed to add to that statement was: She would not dress us up in Q who came before's costumes. Instead, she bought us some new costumes...

For me, she got a jester's collar because as she has stated before, I am a terrible model. I constantly try to get out of my clothes. After all, I have a beautiful white coat and lovely markings. Why would anyone want to hide that under silly costumes? Sigh...

Does this smell funny to you?

This is Mom's favorite picture of the series. Don't I look like I have vampire fangs??? heheh And she got a picture of my tongue.

As for Chani, who is so wonderful at modeling, she managed to hide her costume(I seriously doubt Chani hid her costume, I think Mom just forgot where she put it!), so Mom resorted to putting her in an old kerchief and this witch's hat.

Hi All, Chani here. I have to confess, I have no idea where my dress is. I was such a good girl wearing it too! Oh well. Silly Mom must have put it somewhere.

Don't I look dashing in this hat?

 Yes, indeed, I am adorable.

No, I am not to happy to wear the hat, but Mom is happy she got a few pictures.

Where are our treats???

As a side note, we got lots of treats. Twice after the photo session.

Happy October everyone!

Cleaning Chani... again

As I stated in the last post, 9 still takes his Chani cleaning duty seriously. He just knows that Chani needs his extraordinary cleaning skills help to keep herself looking like the Queen/Ruler of all She surveys self that she is. Doesn't it looks like he's giving her a kiss on the cheek? She doesn't look thrilled, but she's not exactly stopping him either.

9: Ears... your ears must always be pristine, Your Highness.
Chani: Enough with the commentary! Just do your job right or it's off with your head!

I know it looks like they might be hugging in this picture, but no. 9 and Chani turned my parents' bed into a king sized battle ground. Sigh...

I went into a Petco this morning to get them more kitten kibble. 9 is 11 months and Chani is 10. Right now, it's hard to get food for them because

1) their age... so close to 1 year and I really don't want to get them too much age appropriate kitten food or too little...
2) pet stores keep running out of the type of kitten food that I started them on so I have to find another one that isn't too expensive or not enough for them. Chani's stomach is a bit delicate, so it's kind of a gamble to switch foods on them.

BUT... the main thing that I wanted to say about going into Petco this morning... apparently Halloween is just around the corner because all the Halloween costumes are out.

MUWAHAHAHAHAHA.... yes, I bought them costumes... I've already put on Chani's costume (on her, not me). She needs to grow just a tad for it to fit right, especially the head piece. 9's costume... well, it fits and is most appropriate. I cannot wait for October!
