February 21st, 2010, tomorrow will be the first anniversary of Q's crossing the Rainbow Bridge.
I was looking through some old photos and found a set taken right before I took Q to the vet's for the last time. I guess I never really noticed how old he had become when I was seeing him every day. Looking at these photos made me realize how far past his prime he had gone.
It was the right decision to have him helped across the Bridge, but of course, it still hurts. I miss you, darling Q-chan. Love always.
There is something really beautiful about our older friends, no longer as bouncy or limber but with the shared love of so many years written in their faces. Q-Chan was beautiful. You will remember him always.

He had the most adorable milky white nose. We can tell that he was an old and wise mancat. Gentle purrs to you on this anniversary today. You must tell 9 and Chani about him all the time. What a rolecat model to look up to!
ReplyDeleteHe was a very handsome old gentleman. I feel for you today, and I know from experience that you'll always hold him dear in your heart.
ReplyDeleteWe know it hurts. He was very, very handsome.

((Marlene)) What a bittersweet anniversary. I know you miss him terribly. Telling his story now, and in the future, keeps his light shining. Honey, I'm proud of you. Helping Q to rainbow bridge allowed a proud and venerable mancat to retain his dignity to the end. He deserved no less.
ReplyDeleteOh Marlene, what a beautiful photo of your sweet Q...I know these anniversaries are just terribly sad but I also know that you gave your sweet boy all the love in the world and a most wonderful home, where he was cherished and loved. Sending you big hugs and lots of purrs from "da boyz".
ReplyDeleteQ was such a beautiful gentlecat. A wise and gentle face, he must have been such a good friend. To remember and smile is wonderful.
